KANSAS CITY. — The Kansas City Collegiate Baseball League (KCCBL), a premier summer wood bat league for college players and committed high school seniors, will expand from eight to twelve teams for its second season in 2025. The league, which debuted in 2024, added Engaged Athletics, Between the Lines, Prime, and Yard Baseball Club to meet the surging interest from talented players and established local organizations across Kansas City. This expansion reflects the region’s deep baseball talent pool and aims to provide more opportunities for elite athletes to compete and develop under the watchful eyes of scouts and recruiters.
The new teams—Engaged Athletics, Between the Lines, Prime, and Yard Baseball Club—are well-established Kansas City organizations, mirroring the pedigree of the league’s original eight clubs. Each brings a wealth of local baseball expertise, with experienced coaches known for their deep knowledge of player development and competitive strategy. These organizations have strong roots in the region, fostering talent through youth programs and high-level training that align with the KCCBL’s mission of preparing players for collegiate and professional opportunities. Their addition ensures a seamless fit, promising tighter competition during the league’s doubleheader games, hosted Monday through Thursday at Creekside Baseball Park and Homefield complexes.
The expansion has energized Kansas City’s college baseball fans, who are eager to see all 12 teams in action on opening day, May 27, 2025. The community sees the growth as a boon for Parkville and surrounding areas, with increased engagement at venues and more chances for young fans to watch high-caliber play. Opening day’s six doubleheaders, utilizing six fields, will set the tone for a vibrant season.
To accommodate the four new teams, the KCCBL will scale up its 2025 schedule, with six doubleheaders played simultaneously on each game day across six fields, ensuring every team sees action. The playoff structure remains unchanged, preserving the league’s competitive balance while allowing the expanded roster of teams to vie for the championship and All-Star game honors. Running from Memorial Day weekend through mid-July, the season will showcase Kansas City’s baseball depth, with the new clubs adding fresh rivalries and talent. The addition of these teams cements the KCCBL’s status as a cornerstone of summer collegiate baseball, poised to shape the future of the sport in the region.
