The Kansas City Collegiate Baseball League (KCCBL) launches its second season today at Creekside Ballpark in Parkville, Missouri, with an expanded roster of 12 teams, up from eight last year. This Opening Day marks the start of a summer wood bat league designed to give college players critical game experience and development opportunities. The event, which offers free entry, promises high-level competition at a premier sports complex featuring six turf fields capable of hosting all 12 teams simultaneously.
The day begins at 11 a.m. with six doubleheaders, followed by a second round of games at 1 p.m. Returning teams—Precision, Inside Edge, Mac N Seitz, 643 KC, Rawlings Tigers, KC Elite, Jaw Bats, and Prodigy—are joined by newcomers Prime, Yard Baseball Club, Engaged Athletics, and Between the Lines. This expansion provides a platform for more college players to gain valuable reps, with some potentially catching the eye of recruiters and scouts for four-year program opportunities.
Last year’s debut season showcased Kansas City as a baseball hotbed, with local colleges feeding talent into the league. This year, the KCCBL aims to build on that success, delivering even more exciting and competitive matchups. The league maintains its straightforward format with no new rules, focusing purely on high-quality baseball. Opening Day sets the stage for a season of intense play, giving players a chance to hone their skills in a competitive environment.
With free admission and a full slate of games, the KCCBL invites fans to Creekside Ballpark to witness the start of what promises to be a thrilling summer of collegiate baseball.
